A birthday, as the term implies, is the anniversary of the particular day on which a person was born. Though by no means universal, birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a party or, in some instances, a rite of passage. Though major religious traditions such as the Buddhist or the Christian celebrate the birth of their founders, the most obvious example of which is Christmas, principled opposition to the very idea of celebrating birthdays is to be found among certain religious groups. Answered by Code to Joy - Wed Dec 31 00:28:08 2008 Am I just crazy or are there other people that throw birthday parties for their dogs? Q. My kids think I'm crazy because I throw birthday parties for my dogs. Nothing too elaborate, just some of their doggie friends, (humans are welcome) with party hats & favors. I'll wrap dog treats and chewies for their presents. (all dogs get presents) Sometimes I'll buy a new collar and leash or doggie couches. Every furry friend gets sirloin steak , and then cupcakes for desert. Does anybody else do this or are my kids right?? Asked by Pom Mom Spay & Neuter!! Q. My son is having his 7th birthday party this weekend. It is going to be a costume party with a hay rack ride and games. Do I need to send a goody bag home with the kids? or am I being cheap by not getting them one? The ones my son brings home sometimes is little piddly stuff that he usually throws in a corner or away when he gets home. If so, what do you put in one. I think when you have a big, elaborate party (like the cool one it sounds like you are planning) that goodie bags aren't necessary. You've already spent so much on everything else that I don't think it's a have-to. The bad thing is that at that age, they pretty much expect one. So, if I felt compelled to do one, I would go the the $1 store & do something simple & not that expensive. One year I bought the packs of kids cards at Walmart (old maid, crazy 8's, etc.) and gave them each a pack of cards and a full-size candy bar (I think it was the 7 yo party). I bought multi-packs of the cards and the candy bars so it really wasn't that expensive and it was a HIT! Good luck & have a great party!
